Today at Church in every single meeting the word "Service" was mentioned. In every lesson and every talk. I seriously think that Heavenly Father is really trying to get His children to listen up about service. Otherwise everything would have been about...other stuff.
One thing that really stuck to me was a principle that I have heard a hundred times, "By small and simple things, are great things come to pass." Today it really got me to thinking though, because the small acts of service we can do for someone may just seem tiny to us, but they could have a major effect on someones day and maybe even help them with a problem they are trying to overcome. Like simply asking someone how they are doing or holding the door open for someone or even just smiling and saying "Hello." A little kindness goes a long way in serving our fellow brothers and sisters.
When we serve our fellow man (or woman) we serve ourselves and our Heavenly Father. Who better to take care of His children than family?
